Building on our decades of experience in British Columbia and with First Nations lands, Aedis Appraisals is now launching its First Nations Valuation Services Department.
Aedis Appraisals is a provincial firm that has been operating since 2008 in British Columbia and has completed work in every corner of the province. Throughout our tenure, we have encountered and worked with many First Nations lands, including reserve lands, and have developed specialized expertise in handling the valuation nuances associated with these properties.
We are now expanding our First Nations Valuation Services Department so that we can focus on helping First Nations and their partners better understand, plan, and manage real estate and land-related matters.
We can assist First Nations and their partners with feasibility studies, planning, land use planning services, and valuation work.
Our full services include the following:
- Appraisal and valuation work on residential and commercial properties located on Nation lands
Valuation work on properties that the Nation may be considering purchasing, to assist in determining the long-term sustainable value of the property to the Nation and its members- Assisting in creating assessment and taxation formats for the Nation
- Acting as a bridge to financial institutions so that mortgage funding and financing can be more easily made available to the Nation and individual band members
- Providing expert advice regarding proposed developments on Nation lands and band lands in order to help maximize financial and ecological returns to the band\
- Building condition studies and building studies to assist in maintenance planning and component updating
- Project planning and assistance in securing bids for construction and development work
- Ongoing advice regarding the performance and valuation of the band’s assets, including real estate, equipment, machinery, and other valuable assets
- Welcoming and encouraging band members to join our team so that we can work together to help train First Nations professionals who can take on consulting and valuation roles and help empower the Nation
- Advisory and negotiation support for properties being considered for purchase
- Highest and Best use analysis / determination on land
- Lastly, but most importantly, Aedis Appraisals seeks to engage with First Nations bands throughout British Columbia so that we may also learn from land managers and Elders about how they perceive value and what is important to the band and Nation in regard to land and real estate.
We believe that an open exchange of information can benefit both the Nation and our firm, allowing us to better understand, from the Nation’s perspective, what creates, enhances, and sustains value in real estate and land.
