Christina Wong – General Manager
Christina Wong is the general manager of Aedis, a boutique realty firm serving the lower mainland along with a national appraisal firm serving multiple provinces throughout Canada. Before joining Aedis Appraisals Christina was responsible for operations for a local coach line serving customers from Vancouver International Airport to destinations in the lower mainland. Along with experience Christina has also completed her Hospitality Management Diploma at VCC and currently enrolled in Trading Services at UBC.
Jimmy Balatsas – Operations Manager
Connections between ourselves and other people are some of the most important assets we have as human beings. My great passion is to help others with their problems. Whether it’s bringing technical services to the table, help with handyman tasks or personal gestures that make people smile, it always gives me great pleasure to see happiness in people when a job is well done.
This is the exact reason I value the contacts I have created with others over the years. One such relationship started between myself and one of my acquaintances from high school, Jason Upton. He called me up for some computer services back in 2001 and I have continued to provide him with my professional services ever since. This connection helped shape my career path and personal life too, and I deeply cherish the friendship that has grown from that.
I have been blessed with a full and varied skillset gained from being given the opportunity to work in a number of widely diverse fields. Before the end of my education, I helped our family business and made a lot of connections with people of all education levels and backgrounds. The following is a focused peek into the things that have rounded my skillset:
- Worked after school at my father’s Texaco gas bar/mechanical service station
- Played an integral role in our family’s property management firm since 1988
- Operated my own business as an Esso gas bar owner in the early 90s
- Have worked in varying construction roles throughout the mid-90s
- Began my own computer services company in 1994 and have never looked back
- Finished the IT program in college and began teaching compute sciences from 1999 to 2005
- Worked as a technician in the audio-visual field thru the latter half of the 2000s
- Have taken on various management and supervisory roles over the years, with the latest one being at Aedis Appraisals with Jason’s highly skilled team
I went to school in Vancouver, BC, where I was born and raised. Prince of Wales high school, just steps from my home was where things gelled for me, I became an active contributor to the Greek Community Centre thru volunteer work. I later attended college at Langara, where I took courses in business administration. Finally, I attended private college to get my diploma in Information Technology and Computer Hardware. I have also received a few certifications for programming digital signal audio processors, video switching equipment and operating heavy equipment licenses such as forklift, scissor lift and boom lifts.
All these contributing factors complete my varied skill set which serves me well when it comes to performing any task, both personally and professionally.
Nathaniel Sia – British Columbia / Alberta / Yukon & Northwest Territories
Nathaniel is currently the Order Manager for Aedis Appraisals Ltd and has been working with us since April 2017. He manages BC, Alberta, and Yukon orders, delegating each appraisal request to its corresponding appraiser. Nathaniel communicates between lenders, borrowers, and appraisers to ensure each task and request is promptly attended to. He offers a wide variety of administrative and client/customer relations management to support the efficiency of the company.
Nathaniel has received his BA in Economics from the University of Calgary back in 2015 and has recently moved to British Columbia from Calgary, Alberta in 2016. Prior to Aedis Appraisals, he has exposed himself into the work fields of international business administration and general management. Nathaniel is also an active investor, his portfolio is diversified with stock market value investing and as well as cryptocurrency exchange, which allows him to practice financial and economical analytics.
Lylah Bonneville – Ontario Order Management
Lylah Bonneville is originally from King City Ontario, and is a graduate of Georgian college For Fine Arts and Curation. However, before confining herself to an art studio for the rest of her life, she moved to Vancouver British Columbia in 2011. While lunching on a patio with appraisal management colleagues visiting from Ontario, she struck up a conversation with a local Vancouver owner of a Real-Estate Appraising company. Owner Jason Upton was happy with Lylah’s positive attitude and knowledge of the business, Jason offered Lylah an opportunity to manage the appraisal office.
With that offer in hand, Lylah would never again touch a paintbrush or scriber. She would become a well-respected office manager, whose duties included submitting appraisal report, assisting with Reserve-Fund reports and research, light accounting for the business, showing homes, booking appraisal appointments, depositing funds, over-seeing web-mail volume, interacting with brokers, lenders and appraisers and other various daily clerical duties on and off the computer.
Lylah is currently on sabbatical from her fourth-year studies at York University, living in Toronto Ontario and still working for Aedis Appraisals. She currently manages Ontario orders and uses an on-line platform to enter, assign and distribute each appraisal order to the appraisers. She ensures daily follow-up is conducted on each order and respective communication is provided to the lenders, appraisers and home-owners with promptness and efficiency.
As an active member of the community, Lylah volunteers at the local St. Maurice Elementary school alongside bright young children, as well as exuberant staff and parents.
Lylah currently resides in a lush, pocket of Toronto surrounded by spacious green parks and friendly neighbors. She enjoys daily jogs and sporadic trips to Vancouver to enjoy the majestic scenery, which serves as a reminder of where her career began.
Veronica Xue – Accounting
Veronica Xue, a trusted partner of Aedis Appraisals, owns and operates a boutique accounting firm in Vancouver which is our exclusive provider and supplier of all accounting, controlling and financial consulting services. Veronica’s team offers the highest level of service in regards to responsiveness, expert knowledge and communication and handles all of the companies payables.
Ian Steward, AACI, P.App – British Columbia
Ian has over 25 years’ experience in the local real estate market. A graduate of BCIT, he received his AACI, P.App designation in 2002 and has been teaching real estate courses for the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 2003.
From 1990 to present, Ian has been active in appraisal, sales, acquisition, disposal, leasing, administration and property management of municipal properties for local government. His work also includes real estate investment analysis, portfolio management, legal and environmental stewardship. Strengths from Ian include project management – budgeting, supervision and closure, public relations communications and management and control of changing budgets. Ian joined Aedis in 2008 and has actively been a manager since.
Anton Suurkask – British Columbia
A graduate of the University of British Columbia, experienced appraiser, and a longstanding member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, Anton Suurkask was born and raised in the Point Grey neighbourhood of Vancouver. As the son of immigrants, Anton began his career at the family business, the former Surrey Inn, where he worked in retail, service, and management. From there, Anton joined the Aedis team in 2008 to work primarily with residential appraisals. With nearly a decade of appraisal experience, Anton has extensive background on the various markets across the lower mainland from the North Shore to the Fraser Valley, and specializes in appraising multi-million dollar estates, luxury penthouses, farms, and floating homes. Having appraised real estate throughout the rise, fall, and rise, again, of the Vancouver real estate market, Anton can confidently ascertain fair market values in a constantly fluctuating environment. Anton currently resides in downtown Vancouver with his wife, and is an active member of the Vancouver Estonian Society where he sits on the board of directors.
Dave McLennan, (BA Crim), CRA – Alberta
Dave has been a member in good standing with the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 2005, and has extensive experience in the appraisal of residential properties, including: single-family dwellings, condominiums and vacant land and acreage and hobby-farm properties both within urban communities and in rural counties throughout Alberta. Dave is focused on growing our team’s client base and is committed to the accuracy, thoroughness and the expedient turn-around times that are not only the most competitive in the industry but, also, meet our client’s expectations.
Jim R. Everts, CRA – Ontario
Licenced real estate broker offering a history of cultivating repeat and referral business amongst discerning clients in Investment, commercial mixed-use, and redevelopment sites. Expert collaborator with senior decision-makers in Canada’s finance industry who builds successful practices from the ground up; skilled in turnkey operation start-up. In addition, created and delivered two fully self contained realty appraisal division for two primary Canadian financial Institutions. Jason Upton, CRA, RI(BC) – Ontario, Yukon & Northwest Territories
Jason has worked as an appraiser and supervisor throughout Canada for over 23 years, joining the Appraisal Institute in 1994 and receiving his CRA in 1998. His focus with the company now is supervising operations in Ontario and the North.
Other fields of study he has completed include commercial building construction, real estate development, trading services, property management, building envelope performance, mediation, home inspection and e-commerce. These studies all took place at Langara College, BCIT, Simon Fraser University and the UBC Sauder School of business.
Professional memberships include the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the Real Estate Institute of Canada, the Mortgage Investment Association of BC, the Mortgage Brokers Association of BC and the Real Estate Board of Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver Island, Victoria and Vancouver.
Aedis Internship Program

We offer a three month internship program, where you’ll have the opportunity to apply your educational experience into practice. The program involves regular lessons and applications in:

- Research (what and how to obtain from City Hall, BC Assessment and other regulatory bodies)
- Report Writing (how to create a report that the client/reader will appreciate, what is important to the reader and how to express it)
